SHIN SHIN MUGENDO
Shime Waza-Strangles
"Shime Waza" is an effective
controlling technique.
To be useful, Shime Waza should have a leverage advantage,
just as with joint locks.
Remember that an opponent will not passively
allow you to put a choke on him.
In Shin Shin Mugendo, developed by Ben Otake, there are
approximately twenty different choking techniques.
Half are chokes that do not use the aid
of the opponent's collar.
The strangles are intended either to
put pressure on the carotid artery
or to cut off the opponent's supply of air.
The preferable technique is to
apply pressure on the artery.
This causes the brain to register higher blood pressure.
The result is that it will cause the
blood pressure to drop suddenly, which, in turn,
will cause the opponent to lose consciousness.
SHIME WAZA SHOULD BE PRACTICED WITH CARE!
Instruction must be provided by a competent teacher.
"Horseplay" should never be tolerated.
